Message from the Director

Welcome to our site and thank you for your interest in the Center for Sustainability at Penn State . I am honored to serve as the director of this important organization. My goal as the director is to capitalize the hard work of those who came before me, and to further position the Center as a value added organization at Penn State , in the Community of State College, and in the State of Pennsylvania .

To achieve this goal, the CfS has initiated collaborative relationships between multiple academic, research, and administrative programs to pursue our mission, which is to engage students in the pursuit of sustainability. Our initiatives are intended to help us advance education and research in the four targeted areas of (1) Green Buildings (2) Renewable Energy Systems, (3) Food Security, and (4) Water conservation

Our growing staff has allowed us to conduct valuable programs that engage Penn State students in the pursuit of sustainability. These programs, such as the American Indian Housing Initiative and the Solar Decathlon offer students opportunities to experiment and experience the impact of sustainable technologies.

As the Center continues to grow, we invite students, Pennsylvania businesses, and national corporations to join us in our efforts to make Penn State a leading institution in the development of citizens, leaders, and entrepreneurs who will flourish in the new energy economy.
